Willis E. "Wid/Wil" Mullen, 84, of Zeeland, passed away Thursday, January 28, 2016.
Willis was born in Plainwell on July 18, 1931, to Willis J. and Grace (Schreuder) Mullen. Willis served his country in the U.S. Navy through the entirety of the Korean War. He worked for 37 years at Consumers Power before his retirement from the Allegan County service center as a supervisor. Following his retirement from Consumers Power he worked another 18 years at Kendall Electric in Holland. Wil served as a trustee on the Allegan County Intermediate Board of Education for 15 years. Wil and his wife Aileen are members of Central Wesleyan church where Wil was a former usher and active member of the facilities team. Wil enjoyed spending time with family, traveling, hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Aileen, children: Jon and Teri Mullen of Nottingham, New Hampshire, Gary and Luann Mullen of Copper Center, Alaska; four grandsons, three granddaughters, one great-grandson, sisters: Marylou and James Frosco, Charlene and John Gilbert; sisters-in-law: Adelia and Chuck Davis, Karen and Glen Perkin.
A service with military honors will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, February 6, 2016, at Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home, 315 E. 16th Street, Holland. Rev. Lynn Bruce will officiate. A visitation will be held 5-8 pm, Friday, at the funeral home. Interment will be Fort Custer National Cemetery. Memorial contributions to World Vision Orphan Support, P.O.
