William Plomp, age 88, of Holland passed away on Thursday, February 18, 2016.
William was born July 17, 1927 to Fred and Grace Plomp. After joining the Army in 1945, he served in the medical core. He later married Abylynne DeRoos with whom he raised three sons and shared 60 wonderful years.
A member of Fourth Reformed Church for many years, William served as both an elder and a deacon. He was an avid sailor, and loved the outdoors. He enjoyed canoeing and camping with family as well as traveling with friends later in life.
In addition to starting his own business, Ideal Window Cleaners, William was known for his willingness to lend a helping hand to friends and neighbors. All his life, William was a positive influence on all who knew him and he will be greatly missed.
William was preceded in death by his wife Abylynne in 2010, and his son Gregory in 1984. He is survived by his sons: Peter (Lisa) Plomp and Phillip (Christine) Plomp; grandson Matthew Plomp and brother Bernard Plomp.
A memorial service is scheduled for 1:00pm Saturday, March 12, 2016 at New Community Fourth Reformed Church, 238 W 15th St., Holland, with Rev. Jonathan Brownson officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service and a time of fellowship will follow.
