Sokvary passed away unexpectedly Monday, September 18, 2017.
She was a naturalized American citizen that came as a Refugee from Cambodia having gone through the "Killing Fields" of Cambodia in the 70's.
Her story "Out of Dragon's mouth" can be read at www.missionindependentbaptistchurchchicago.com. Sokvary settled in Chicago in 1980 with her mother, 3 brothers and 2 sisters. She met her to be husband Edward Fort and was married 34 years. She is survived by her husband Edward Fort and her Children: Job in North Pole, AK. Elisabeth (Kyle) Austin in Sioux Falls, SD, Anna (Joseph) McBurney in Evans, CO., Sarah in Wichita, KS, Grace in Wonder Lake, IL, Ruth in Evans, Co, Paul in North Pole, AK and Esther In Evens, CO.; Granny Yim Choun of Holland.

Her Siblings: older brother Sokkha (Kham) Chiv of Holland, Sovann (Sone) Chiv of Holland, Rethana (Kirk) Harter of Milpitas, CA., Sokchay (Kahlia) Chiv of Taylor, MI., as well as many Nieces and Nephews

She was preceded in death by her Father Vansuy Chiv, Mother Saing Sok, Daughter Jemima Fort, Sister and brother in law Vollevann (Mark) Kaylor.

Sokvary was a missionary with her husband Edward to the foreign people of Chicago for over 30yrs. She will be missed by the many lives she touched over the U.S and the world.

A memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home, 315 E. 16th St. Holland. Visitation will be from 9am-1030am at the funeral home. Burial will be in Pilgrim Home Cemetery.

Contributions may be given in her son's name: Job Fort or Plattville Baptist Church.
