Mr. Simon Essenburg (September18,1932) went to his heavenly home to be with his Lord & Savior on Saturday, January 30. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years Joan Essenburg, his parents Gerrit R. and Alyda (Bosch) Essenburg, brothers, sister, brother in-laws, sister in-laws, step brothers, step sister, step brother in-laws, and step sister in-laws. Si will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 5 years Esther, his children; Sharon and Mike VanHaitsma, Randy and Roxanne Essenburg, Nancy and Joe Krol, Kathy and Bill Pols, and Michelle and Tim Nienhuis; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Matthew and Katie VanHaitsma (Noah and Jefferson), Marcy VanHaitsma, Mitchell and Jamie Essenburg, Stephanie Essenburg, Travis Essenburg, Carrie and Brian Timmer (Addison, Savannah, and Charlotte), Kellie and Chuck Wilks (Landon, Brennan, and Mackenzie),Ashley and Bryant Hengst, Heidi and Will Friend (Sunshine and Will), Amanda and Adam Post (Asher and Lilah), Alyssa and Nate Caminata (Drew), Caleb Pols, Carlos Pols, Brett Nienhuis, and Caden Nienhuis, step children, step grandchildren, and step great grandchildren. Sisters; Margaret Kiekover, Elsie and Paul Kragt, and brother Gary and Brenda Essenburg; in-laws; Norm Nanninga, Velm Nanninga, and Joyce DePender; step brother and step sisters and many nephews and nieces. Si was a lifelong member of Borculo CRC church where he served as elder, deacon, and catechism teacher. He also volunteered with Cross Roads Ministries and International Aid. He served in the US Army during the Korean conflict. Si worked for Chris Craft, Fogg Filler, Prince Corporation, Ottawa Trust, Sealed Power and Filler Specialties. Si loved spending time with his family and enjoyed serving others.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at Borculo Christian Reformed Church, 6646 96th Ave. Zeeland with Revs. Stephen Terpstra and Allen Petroelje officiating. Burial will be in Borculo Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, February 1, at Yntema Funeral Home, 251 S. State St. Zeeland.
