Shirley M. Lambers, age 83, of Holland, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at Resthaven Care Center after her 18 year battle with Alzheimer's Disease.

She was one of five children born on a farm in Oakland, MI, to Benjamin and Florence Redder Winkels, on March 30, 1934. She graduated from Zeeland Public High Schools in 1952 (Go Chix!), then attended Calvin College. After college she taught third grade at Calvin Christian School in South Holland, Illinois. She later married the love of her life, Willus Lambers, at First Christian Reformed Church in Zeeland, MI on October 12, 1956. She was a mother to four children, grandmother to eleven children, and great grandmother to seven children. She was an active member of Faith Christian Reformed Church; teaching Sunday school and mentoring in Kid's Hope as well as many other activities for over 50 years. She worked for Willard Wichers at the Netherland's Information Service. She was also a teacher's aide for Holland Christian Schools as well as a Welcome Wagon Hostess for the City of Holland for several years.

Shirley was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved Jesus and completely trusted His promises. She told her family about it and modeled it throughout her life.

Shirley was preceded in death by her sisters, Verna Bremer and Myrtle VerBeek, and her brother, Melvin Winkels.

Shirley is survived by her husband, Willus; children, Kirk (Sandy) Lambers, Dawn (Jim) Oren, Todd (Sue) Lambers, and Mark (Jane) Lambers, all of Holland.
Grandchildren, Charlie (Megan) Lambers, Jenna (Mitch) Bosch, Liz (Nate) Johnson, Sarah (R.J.) Flowers, Emily Oren, Molly Oren, Jacob Lambers, Tyler Lambers, Ben Lambers, Ashley (Tyler) Spaulding, and McKenna Lambers.

Great-grandchildren, Parker, Noah, Aiden and Mia Lambers, and Levi, Isaac and Luke Bosch.

Sister, Donna (Carl) Haverdink of Jenison; and sister-in-law, Bernie Lambers of Holland.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Good Shepherd house and Resthaven Care Center for their excellent care and counseling during Shirley's stay for the past 7 1/2 years. Also thank you to Hospice for their counseling in her final days.

Visitation is scheduled for 4-7pm Wednesday, February 28 at Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home, 315 E. 16th St., Holland. Funeral services, with Rev. Dr. Chad Pierce officiating, will be 11:00am Thursday, March 1 at Faith Christian Reformed Church, 85 W. 26th St., Holland. Burial will be in Graafschap Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Resthaven Care Center, Faith Christian Reformed Church.
