Ronald Nykamp, age 81, of Holland, passed away Monday, February 27, 2017 at his home.
Ron was born in 1936, grew up and lived most of his life in Holland, MI. From the earliest age, he relished the opportunity to be in the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and to the amusement or chagrin of others, successful at both. He also loved sports and had some of his greatest moments on the basketball court.
He was known to many of his friends as "Peanut". But, if truth be told, he was much larger in life than his nickname suggested. He was a man of action - physically strong and mentally tough. He served his country in the National Guard and the Army. He also put a great deal of heart and soul into the multiple businesses he was a part of over his life time.
Ron was a private man whose faith and love for the Lord were guiding influences. He lived life with humility and thankfulness for the blessings he was given. He would count his 1st love to Marjorie DeVries and his 2nd love to Velma Myrick [Schut] as especially meaningful. He kept his life challenges close to the vest while openly displaying love and devotion to family. He left a legacy of paternal love and leadership, diligence, hard work, and discipleship. Ron was a member of Pillar Church and was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie, in 2013.
