Robert "Bob" Whitbeck, age 63 of Holland, passed away on, April 11, 2017.

Bob spent most of his early life in Battle Creek and enjoyed water skiing and running. He was a passionate fan of the Detroit Tigers as well as his alma mater Michigan State. He taught science for many years in Michigan as well as in Texas, coached various teams, and retired from West Ottawa Schools in 2011. Bob was an inspiration to his students and the athletes whom he served.

After retirement, Bob continued to serve his community as a volunteer for Hospice of Holland, American Cancer Society and Meals on Wheels. He was a very caring man, who enjoyed serving his friends and neighbors with no expectation of acknowledgement.

Bob is survived by his wife, Deb Whitbeck; daughters: Amaren Whitbeck and Elaine Whitbeck; grandson Landon; father Calvin (Joyce) Whitbeck; siblings: Linda Jirous and Bill (Yavonne) Whitbeck; sister-in-law, Bobbi Whitbeck, parents-in-law, Bill and Earline Cheyne; in-laws: Bill (Kathy) Cheyne, Ron (Pam) Cheyne, Jane Cheyne, and Stan (Linda) Cheyne; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his mother Maren Whitbeck and brother Calvin Whitbeck Jr.

A memorial service for Bob will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 27, 2017 in the Anchor at Harderwyk Ministries, 1627 W Lakewood Blvd. Holland, MI 49424. Memorial contributions may be given to CurePSP, 30 E Padonia Rd, Suite 201, Timonium, MD 21093 or to Hospice of Holland.
