Robert "Bob" Knott, 90, of Holland, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 3, 2017.
Bob was born September 18, 1926, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to John and Martha (Stap) Knott. Bob graduated from Grand Rapids Christian High School, attended Calvin College, and graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in business. Bob served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII and married the love of his life, Ruth VandeKopple in 1950. Bob and Ruth moved their family from Grand Rapids in 1959 to Dearborn. Bob worked in the food broker business in the Detroit area and started his own company in 1966 with his colleague Larry McKinley. Knott-McKinley became a successful business and in the early 1990's Bob and Ruth retired to Holland, Michigan.
In retirement, Bob enjoyed spending time with family, golfing, and doing woodworking. He made stools, furniture, and was always working on some special projects for family and friends.
Every day faith in Jesus Christ was a personal and living faith for Bob. Bob and Ruth were members of Dearborn CRC when they lived in the Detroit area, and they are now members of Christ Memorial Church in Holland.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Ruth, children: Nanci J. Hirssig of Rockledge, FL, Joan R. and Derek DeGroot of Elburn, Il; grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Aaron and Kristi Cueto (Ava, Calvin), Dr. Justin and Vania Cueto (Phoenix), Kristin Hirssig, Mark and Tricia DeGroot (Jacob, Rachel), Adam and Whitney DeGroot (Kai, Eli, Tait, Ben, Honor), Amy DeGroot and fiancé Ryan Zmich; brother Rev.
