Obituary

Oscar Rios, age 72, of Holland, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, October 22, 2021.

Oscar was born in Mexico and moved to Holland in 1963 at the age of 14. He was the son of Eusebio and Martina Rios. He worked at the Holland Sentinel for 27 years. He was an avid Elvis fan that enjoyed karaoke. He was known to many as "Mexican Elvis". He, his parents, and 6 of his siblings, all became Untied State Citizens in 1997.

He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Julie; daughters, Leesa and Devyn Boetsma, Tonya and Kevin Mansfield, Alma Rios Castillo and Oscar Castillo , Ashleigh Rios; 13 Grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren with one on the way; Step-sons, Tim and Kasandra Ash, Dave and Jen Ash; siblings, Elva and Richard VanRegenmorter, Rene' Rios and Dee Dee Rusch, Luis Rios, Estela Eaves and Rod Miller, Alfonso and Molly Rios, Alisia and Michael Alanis, Dolores and Juan Medellion, Robert and Erika Rios; in-laws, Ed Klein, Jackie and Don Riemersma, Jeanne Brink and Chuck Palmer; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Oscar was preceded in death by his sister, Susanna Klein, and a step-son, Andrew Ash.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Tuesday. October 26, 2021, at Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home, 315 E. 16th St, Holland. A family graveside will take place in Pilgrim Home Cemetery on Wednesday, October 27. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society.
