Obituary

Marvin J. Jalving, 96, of Holland, passed away on Monday, February 1, 2021.

Marvin was born November 16, 1924, in Holland, to Clarence and Elsie (Van Dyken) Jalving. He graduated from Holland High School in 1943. Marvin joined the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1943. He was a ball turret gunner on a B17 bomber for 23 missions from England over occupied territory. Marv went to College of Advanced Transportation in Chicago and worked in that field following his graduation. He married Lois Y. Hospers in 1951 and they raised their three daughters together. Marv was a member of the Muskegon Transportation Club where he was the President in 1975. He was a member of the Reformed Church in America, where he served as a deacon and sang in every church choir where he attended. When wintering in Florida he served on the "Kirk Church Council". Marv was a talented wood worker and also did many color pencil drawings in his retirement. He is a member of the Chas. A. Conklin Post #28 of the American Legion.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Lois, their daughters: Judy and John Mills of Norton Shores, Jane and Eric Schweinzger of Grand Rapids, Jill and Marc VanderMeulen of Holland; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren.

A family graveside service with military honors will be held at Restlawn Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Wings of Mercy. Arrangements by Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home, 315 E. 16th Street, Holland.
