Marie was born in Sulley, Iowa on April 8, 1933 to John C. and Jennie (Spoelstra) Geenen. Marie graduated from Holland Christian Schools and was married on September 4, 1952 to her loving husband and best friend for 68 years, Donald W. De Vries, while Don was serving in the U.S. Army. They moved to Lansing, MI, in 1972, where she was employed by the State of Michigan Department of Human Services. Upon returning to Holland, MI in 1983, she was employed at A.C. Geenen Construction Company as a receptionist. She and Don spent 10 years volunteering for the American Red Cross. Their last assignment was at "911" in New York City, 2001. She was also a member of the H.A.S.P. Women's Literary Club. Marie will be fondly remembered as someone who enjoyed making new friends, staying in touch with her long-time friends and extended family as well as traveling, baking and entertaining at her home. She participated in church choirs for over 50 years. God's praises continue on!
