Obituary

Post, John W., Jr. "Jack", of Holland, MI and Bradenton, FL, age 73. passed into the loving arms of his heavenly father on May 7, 2017, joining his son, John W. III who predeceased him in 2011. Jack was the dearly loved husband of Arden Ruth De Vries Post, beloved father of Caroline Post Cone of Franklin, TN, Janine Post-Anderle (Rev. Joel) of Peabody, MA, and daughter-in-law, Audrey Hovinga Post of Grand Rapids. His grandchildren will treasure memories of Grandpa Jack on the beach at Lake Michigan and rides on the wave runner: Courtney, Tanner, Carli, and John William (Jack) Cone; Micah, Evangeline, Sophia, Magdalena, and Mattias Anderle; Simon John, Samuel, and Lucy Post.

After graduating from Grand Rapids Christian High School, Calvin College, and obtaining his M.A. from Michigan State University, Jack entered the management program with Keebler Company. His career spanned 34 years in bakeries in Denver, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Cincinnati, and Grand Rapids. In retirement Jack volunteered with Habitat for Humanity and Jubilee Ministries in Holland, MI. He "loved swinging a hammer" and learning from those with whom he worked.

Jack was born June 8, 1943 to John W. and Marjorie Helmholdt Post, who predeceased him as did his brother-in-law, Robert Hudson. In addition to Arden, his wife of 52 years, Jack is survived by his siblings: Mary Hudson, Pat Post, Jo (Ken) Blackport, Mike (Barb) Post, Charlie (Elaine) Post, Betsi Post and several nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank Dr. Nikhil Munshi of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, MA, for the stem cell transplant in 2009 that added years to Jack's life; Dr. Eric Batts and staff of Cancer and Hematology in Holland, MI, Drs. Brown and Whorf of Florida Cancer Specialists, and a special thanks to Dr. Ken Shain, nurse Christine Simonelli, and NP Casey Goodman of Moffitt Cancer Center.

Visitation will be 4-6 pm on Friday, May 26 and a service will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, May 27 at the Red Brick building at Harderwyk Christian Reformed Church in Holland, MI.
