Duane Vander Kooy, age 88 of Holland, went to be with his Lord, on Wednesday, October 17, 2018.

Duane proudly served in the US Army during the Korean War and was awarded the Purple Heart. He loved to travel and see the country which he did whether on vacation or driving a semi truck. Using his exceptional mechanical skills, Duane proved being an engineer did not necessarily require having a degree.

Duane and his wife Pauline were founding members of the Foundry Church in Zeeland. Duane was a loving husband and as a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he was an incredible example of his savior Jesus Christ.

Duane is survived by his wife, Pauline Vander Kooy; sons: John and Cheryl Vander Kooy, Randy and Deb Vander Kooy, Doug and Brenda Vander Kooy; grandchildren: John (Katie) Vander Kooy, Jeff (Alyssa) Vander Kooy, Christy (David) Raak, Luke (Sarah) Vander Kooy, Sara (Paul) Engelsman, Rachel (Nick) Paquette, Justin (Kristine) Vander Kooy, Jenni (Matt) Peterson; 17 great grandchildren; sisters: Bernice Koeman, Faith (Tom) Germeraad; in-laws: Bill (Karen) Kannegieter, Ken (Carol) Kannegieter; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are 11:00am on Monday, October 22, 2018 at The Foundry Church, 435 W Main Ave, Zeeland, MI 49464. Visitation will be from 2-5pm on Sunday, October 21, at Yntema Funeral Home, 251 S State St., Zeeland. Prior to the funeral service on Monday, there will be an additional time of visitation from 9:45-10:45 at the church.. Memorial contributions are to Hospice of Holland.
