Delia (Roels) Jonker, 96 of Holland passed away peacefully, November 28, 2017 at Appledorn Living Center. Delia was a kind, caring and loving wife and mother, grandmother and

Delia was predeceased by her parents, John and Bertha Roels and her in-laws Rev. Peter and Minnie Jonker. She was also predeceased by two brothers, Jason and Paul Roels, Jason's wife Julia, and in-laws Peter and Vonnie Jonker, Joe and Nell VanderLeek, Ann Wyngarden and Ruth Jonker. She is survived by her loving husband of 75 years, Jerry Jonker, her children, James and Janice Jonker and Robert and Nancy Jonker, 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren: Barb Jonker and Hans Larsen (Max and Dale) Betsy and Craig Oosterhouse (James and John), Lisa and Doug Klamer (Hannah and Heidi), Laura and Andrew Plantenga (Keegan and Audrey), Jonathan Jonker and Benjamin Jonker. She is also survived by a brother and sister-in-law Reverend Dr. Edwin and Bertie Roels, brother-in-law Dr. Milton Wyngarden and sister-in-law, Arloa Roels.

Delia graduated from Holland Christian High School after transferring there for her Senior year. Her classmates nicknamed her "The Beloved Stranger" because they were instantly drawn to her quiet warmth and charm even though she was with them only a short time.

Delia also graduated from Holland Business College and became very accomplished in shorthand, the "instant messaging" of a much earlier time. She worked as a Secretary for a year at Holland Furnace Company. Much later in life, she also worked as a secretary with her
husband as they both worked without pay to support the ministry of the Back to God Hour.

Delia happily invested most of her years as a faithful homemaker and tireless supporter of her husband and children. She delighted in them as much as they delighted in her.

Delia was a faithful member of and very active in Bethany Christian Reformed Church, where she was a member of the Bethany Guild, Dorcas Society, Christian School Circle and Couples Club. She also served faithfully for many years as a Sunday school teacher. Delia was well loved and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

We wish to thank the staff at Appledorn Living Center as well as Hospice of Holland for outstanding care of Delia during these last 5 years. Most of all we thank our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, for His care and the sure promise of eternal life for Delia.
