David Ostrowski Sr., 73, of West Olive, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 16, 2017.
David was born March 2, 1944, in Brisbane, Australia, to Francis "Frank" and Stella (Keable) Ostrowski. He graduated high school and was attending college when he was drafted into the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. In 1966, he married Marilyn Faust. He rose quickly through Army ranks at Fort Knox and was sent to serve in Vietnam. He was awarded the bronze star medal for valor. After the war he worked in automobile businesses. In 1982, Dave and Marilyn moved their family to Holland, Michigan from the Detroit area. Dave retired from Duthler-Honda as the service manager in 2009 after many years of service.
Dave was also a raving University of Michigan football fan, and the world nearly stopped when a Michigan game was on television. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Marilyn, children: David Jr. and Jennifer Ostrowski, Scott Ostrowski, Wendy and Jeff Bramer; a niece like his daughter, Tina Devine, grandchildren: Andrew Young, Celena Ostrowski, Elijah Ostrowski, Cora Bramer, Samantha Smith; great-grandchildren: Sky Young, Elijah Venema; siblings: Pete and Debra Ostrowski, Vicki and Dave Kurliac, Pam Ostrowski, Frank Ostrowski, in-laws: James and Connie Faust, Terrence and Linda Faust, nieces and nephews
Memorial services are 1:00 pm, Thursday, April 20, Harlem Reformed Church, 6854, 144th Ave., Holland 49424. Visitation 12:00-12:45pm, prior to the service at church, and a luncheon will follow.
