Obituary

Betty Jane Dubois (nee DeKoning), age 95, is celebrating her meeting with her Savior after she passed from this world on Wednesday, December 26, 2018.

She was a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother whose main desire was to provide love, care and support for her family. During World War II, Betty was a "Rosie the Riveter" at Hayes Manufacturing Corporation in Grand Rapids, riveting windshields onto airplanes. Not long after the War, she married Tony Dubois and spent most of her younger years caring for their seven children and 2 nieces, raising them to be loving and caring adults. She and Tony lived in Grand Rapids until his work as a teacher prompted a move to Holland in 1959, where they settled into the community and church they loved so well. In later years, when her children were older, she worked at Washington Elementary School and Holland Christian Schools for a short time. She loved working with children, and took great joy in spending time with and caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Betty was a member of Prospect Park Christian Reformed Church until its closure, joining Graafschap Christian Reformed Church thereafter.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Anthony Dubois Jr., infant daughter Cathleen, sister Barb, and niece Sheri. Betty will be greatly missed by her 7 children, Dee and Jerry Mokma of Holland, Judy and Bert Blok of Missoula, Montana, Sue and Jerry Cole of Pleasant Lake, Michigan, Dave and Marge Dubois of Holland, Dan and Charlene Dubois of Allendale, Bob and Angie Dubois of Acton, California, Lori and Jeff Banaszak of Holland, brother Bob and Viv DeKoning and sister Nancy and George Jasperse; Betty had 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, a grandson Jeff Mokma and a great-grandson Easton Klemundt preceded her in death. A special thank you to the staff at Rest Haven's Maple Woods Cottages for the loving care given to Betty while the cottages were her home.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 4, 2019 at Graafschap Christian Reformed Church, 5973 Church St. Holland with Rev. Stan Scripps officiating. Burial will be in Pilgrim Home Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Thursday, January 3, at Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home, 315 E. 16th St. Holland.
