Obituary

Borne on the love and prayers of her family, Annie Noordmans Meyer, 93, passed peacefully from this world to the next on March 23, 2018. She joyfully claimed the place prepared for her in heaven and joined the great cloud of witnesses who cheer on those of us who have not yet completed the race.

Annie was born February 17, 1925, in Hancock, Minnesota, to Dewey and Jessie Noordmans. The third of nine children, she shouldered much responsibility on the family farm. At age 19, she left behind all that was familiar to pursue an education in nursing in New Jersey. There she met and married Richard Meyer and raised a family. After retirement they moved to Holland, Michigan, to be nearer children and grandchildren. Following her husband's death in 2015 and several health crises, Annie moved from Holland to Clark on Keller Lake in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Fondly called "big grandma" by her great grandchildren, she was small in stature but had a heart big enough to embrace everyone she met. A quiet and competent leader in many roles at her church, she was generous, compassionate, and hospitable, with great talent in handwork and baking. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her - family, friends, church family, and staff who cared for her.

Survivors include her children Anna Mae (Peter) Bush, Ruth (Rich) Huisman, Betty (Chris) Kacos, David (Ellen) Meyer; her grandchildren Jeremy (Melisa) Bush, Matthew (fiancé Margaret) Bush, Rebekah Muller, Benjamin Huisman, Sarah (Deb) Huisman, Corrin (Lisa) Meyer, Zachary (Sarah) Meyer, Dan (Erin) Meyer, Christopher Kacos; great grandchildren Seth and Mikayla Bush, Asa and Charlotte Muller, Joshua, Nate, Lydia, Eli and Cora Meyer; brother Tony (Joyce) Noordmans, sisters Audrey Evink, Doris Tensen, and Greta (John) Vander Pol; hundreds of nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Visitation with the family is scheduled for Monday, April 9, at the Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home, 315 E. 16th St, Holland, 5:00-8:00pm. A memorial service will be held April 10, 11:00am, at Central Avenue Christian Reformed Church, 259 Central Ave, Holland, followed by lunch and a time of fellowship at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial gifts to Faith Hospice, Central Ave CRC, or a charity of your choice. Annie's family expresses deep appreciation for the compassionate care given to our mom by her Faith Hospice team and the assisted living staff of Clark on Keller Lake.
