Obituary

A Celebration of life for Ann Veenstra will be held on Sunday, August 2, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Grace Church of Hamilton, 3960 Lincoln Road(M40), Hamilton, Michigan. In respect of social distancing this will be held outside. Please bring your own lawn chairs for your comfort.

Ann Veenstra , 65 of Zeeland, Michigan passed on to be with the Lord on Friday, April 24th at 6:40 pm at Blodgett Hospital in Grand Rapids.

Ann Veenstra was born Ani VanNiejenhuis on April 11th, 1955 to Harry and Jacoba Newhouse (Harm And Jacoba VanNiejenhuis) of Alphen Aan Den Rijn, Netherlands. Ann migrated to Holland Michigan in February of 1956 with her family. Her name was changed to Ann Deborah Newhouse at the age of 7. She was raised in the Holland area with her family settling on 30th Street in Holland until she was married. Ann met Curt Veenstra, formerly Curt Dokter, in 1972 and they were married on March 15 of 1975 at Bethany Christian Reformed Church, Holland Michigan. She attended and graduated from Holland Christian School in 1973 and went on to 1 year at Davenport College for accounting.

Ann poured her life in to the raising and education of her 11 children, she homeschooled her children, for 20 years. Ann loved her family and friends above all else. Her caring and loving disposition touched many. To know Annie was to love Annie.

She was known for remembering the details, being a problem solver and could get just about anything accomplished. Her hobbies ranged widely throughout her life. She loved crafting, sewing, singing, trivia and puzzles. Annie was proud of her Dutch heritage and being able to speak Dutch. As her health began to fail she loved sunny lakeside picnics with Curt and spending time with her grandchildren.

Ann was preceded in death by her daughter Anneke Marek, her father Harry Newhouse, her grandparents Harm and Ann Huisman, and her father-in-law Bront Veenstra.

Ann is remembered by her husband Curtis Dale Veenstra, her mother Jacoba Newhouse, 5 siblings John & Paula Newhouse, Grace & John Snikkers, Harrison & Debra Newhouse, Bill & Martha VanNiejenhuis, and Richard & Emily Newhouse. Also by her children Christopher & Amber (Teusink) Veenstra, Brian & Bernadette (Thomas) Veenstra, son-in-law Casey Marek(Anneke Veenstra - Deceased), Jonathan & Brenda (Packard) Veenstra, Harrison & Julia (Smith) Veenstra, Daniel & Ericka(Veenstra) Bolluyt, Nicholas & Rebecca(Veenstra) Osterhaven, Rachel Veenstra, Ian & Anna (Osterbaan) Veenstra, Heather Veenstra, and Blake & Jennifer(Veenstra) Johnson. The joy and fulfillment of Ann's life, her soon to be 28 grandchildren and many cousins, nephews and nieces; All the many dear friends and caregivers that came to love her.

A viewing will be held at Yntema for family on Wednesday, April 29th, 2020 and a graveside service for family on Thursday, April 30th, 2020.
