Sam Warmenhoven, 76, of Holland, passed away on Monday, May 13, 2019, at his home.

Sam was born in Grand Rapids, September 3, 1942, while his father (Simon Warmenhoven) was serving overseas in the New Guinea campaign against the Japanese Army. Sam's mother, Henrietta (Mandemaker) Warmenhoven, raised Sam and his two sisters with the help of family after the Warmenhoven's became a Gold Star family following Simon Warmenhoven's death in 1943. Sam was raised in Wyoming, Michigan, and graduated from Grand Rapids Christian High School. He started his working career in the lumber and construction industry, and graduated from Davenport College. Sam became a successful salesman for Andersen Windows. He also worked for Pfizer and Elhart part-time in his retirement. In 2015, Sam married Mary Warmenhoven and they are members of Immanuel Church. Sam was for several years a great supporter of Alcoholics Anonymous (A.A.), and he was a sponsor for many members. He was preceded in death by his parents, and also his sister Muriel Joldersma in early 2019.

He is survived by his wife of four years, Mary, his children: Deborah Kroll of Jenison, David and Judy Warmenhoven of Grandville, SFC Michael and Brandi Warmenhoven of Waukee, Iowa; by Mary's children: Janice and David Bothwell of North Carolina, Diane and Dan Barman of Holland, Eric and Melody Wiggers of Tennessee; 13 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, sister Ann and Chuck Holman of Spring Lake, in-laws: Robert Joldersma of Sutton's Bay, Esther Plaggemars of Holland, James and Rebecca De Weerd of Grand Rapids, Donald and Sharon De Weerd of Holland; many nieces, nephews and extended family.

A funeral service to honor the faith and life of Sam Warmenhoven will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, May 17, 2019, at Immanuel Church, 325 104th Ave., Holland 49423. Visitation will be 5-7 pm, Thursday, at Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home, 315 E. 16th Street, Holland 49423. Interment will be in the family plot at Woodlawn Cemetery in Grand Rapids. Memorials may be made to Alcoholics Anonymous or Immanuel Church Auditorium Fund, 325 104th Ave., Holland MI 49423.
