Tribute & Message From The Family

Elizabeth "Tootie" Krug, age 88, of Burnips, passed away at home with family by her side on Wednesday, March 31, 2021.

Tootie was a private person, but when visitors came, she could talk for hours. She was devoted to her family and looked forward to the yearly birthday celebrations up north. She especially enjoyed seeing her great-great grandchildren and was certain to have treats ready for these beloved visitors. On Sundays, Tootie made sure the entire family was well fed. And she often took this opportunity to inform others in the family if they happened to be wrong about any particular topic.

Tootie loved a good campfire and could spend hours tossing logs into the fire as she watched the flames. She loved the outdoors. In earlier years she could be found hunting and fishing. More recently she enjoyed time in the garden and spent many hours canning her crops so she could share her harvest with others.

Tootie worked for many years making baby clothes as a seamstress for Kessler and also enjoyed working for Beards Produce. She was a longtime member of Burnips United Methodist Church.

Tootie is survived by daughters: Pat (Gene) Holiday, Deb (Al) VandenBerg, Mary (Doug) Valkema, and Diane Klingenberg; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Carl in 1979 and her son David Krug in 2008.

The Krug family is being served by Yntema Funeral Home, 251 South State Street, Zeeland, MI 49464. No services are planned at this time. Memorial contributions may be given to Hospice of Holland. If you would like to leave a message for the Krug family, please visit www.yntemafh.com.
