Lyle D. Broekhuis age 79, of Overisel, passed away on Sunday, February 7, 2021 at Spectrum Health Zeeland Community Hospital.

He was lifelong member of Overisel Christian Reformed Church and a volunteer firefighter for Overisel Township for 35 years. He owned and operated Broekhuis Bros. Well Drilling for many years until selling it to his son Chris. He raised horses and had a passion for harness racing, fireworks, and the love of family.

Lyle is survived by his wife of 61 years, Marilyn; children, Cheryl and Tim Bleeker of Hamilton, Chris and Nicole Broekhuis of Hamilton, Laura and Scott Hulst of Overisel; 9 grandchildren, Lisa and Jon Walters, Tami and Nick Scholma, Jill and Matt Vander Bok, Kayla Broekhuis, Amber Broekhuis, Jared Broekhuis, Ethan Broekhuis, Michael Hulst, Heather Hulst, Kairi Vandenberg, Jayden Ten Broeke; 6 great grandchildren, Weston Walters, Ellery, Jackson, and Oliver Scholma, Keagan and Lucy Vander Bok; brother, Rudy and Diane Broekhuis of Fennville; in-laws, Eleanor and Bill Wildeboer, Nancy and Jim Wilson, Ruth Parsons, Pat Zwiers; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Hazel Broekhuis, sister Harloa Yonker, great grandchild Brayleigh Vander Bok.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 11, 2021 at Overisel Christian Reformed Church, 4724 142nd Ave. Holland with Pastor Ron Boersema officiating. Visitation will be 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, February 10, in the sanctuary of the church. Facemasks and social distancing are required.
