Tribute & Message From The Family

Linda Joyce Jipping age 81, of Holland, died Saturday, November 21, 2020 at her home following a brief illness.

Linda's work history started as a secretary at General Electric and switchboard operator at Russ' Restaurant (12 years). She served as church secretary at Bethel CEC in Lansing IL, 14th Street CRC in Holland (7 years) and Fellowship Reformed Church in Holland. Linda retired from Holland Christian Schools as school secretary after 15 years of service.

While in Holland she served 14th Street CRC as coordinator of serving meals at various functions, was a member of the Worship Choir and HCS School Circle and several special committees. She sang in the Evergreen Chorale for many years.

In retirement Linda was a Kid's Hope Prayer Coordinator and tutor for 16 years. Her last major retirement activity was the making of infant blankets (50+/year for 20 years) with her good friend, Nan VandenBerg to be donated to various churches and pregnancy centers. Every year she knitted booties, mittens, and scarfs for needy families.

With husband Jim, Linda raised three boys in three communities, Edgerton MN, Lansing IL and Holland. She and Jim enjoyed many years of summer camping, ending only three years ago. Her greatest delight was to be surrounded by friends and family. She loved deeply and unconditionally and was beloved because of it.

Linda is survived by her husband of 62 years, James; Children, Michael (Peg) of Holland, Jon (Lisa) of Ada, Tom of Fairfax VA; Grand Children, Eric (Megan), Daniel, Bethany (Brandon) Van Aller, Kari (Gabe) Dvorak, Austin; Great Grand Children, Conner, Aiden and Ben Van Aller, Lillian Ruth Jipping.

A family viewing and graveside service are being planned. Burial will be in Graafschap Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Hospice of Holland, 14th Street Christian Reformed Church or Community Action House.

Condolence & Memory Journal

Mr. Jipping,

I just learned about Mrs. Jipping's passing away from my mom Carolyn Keuning. I have many happy memories of Mrs. Jipping growing up. From those camping trips at Tri-ponds to HCMS. I am so sorry, she was awesome. I'm praying for you and your family.

Dear Jim and family,
I had the opportunity to walk by Linda's desk at the Middle School several times a day on the way to and from my orchestra room. She was to me a wonderful ray of sun shine and a beautiful example of the Son shining in and through her as we shared life together each day. I was blessed by knowing you Jim, and Linda and I am thankful God put you both in my life.

The Jippings were our neighbors in Lansing, IL. It was during a difficult time for our family and Mrs. Jipping was always so kind and helpful. One of her young boys at the time suggested that my dad, who was widowed, marry her. This gave all the adults a good laugh. We are sorry to hear of her passing. May she rest in peace and rise in glory.

Jim and family,

I was saddened to read of Linda's death in the Sentinel this past week. The middle school lost Gene Westra last week and now we have lost another talented and dedicated staff member. Linda, you and your boys have crossed paths with Alida and me at various times and places including church, school, computer mentor, fellow consistory member, etc. Your family has enriched my life in many ways, not the least of which was Linda's large contribution to the middle School. She was a dedicated, organized, professional school secretary. You predicted that when she was hired and she proved herself to be a positive influence on many who she touched daily over the fifteen years she worked there. May all of us, and you especially, be blessed by her memories and influence she had on us all.

Dear Jim.
It is with great sadness that I read that Linda has passed away. My sincere condolences to you and your family. I had known Linda since childhood since she was my neighbor growing up in Holland. When I began teaching at Illiana, you, as a graduate of Holland Christian and Calvin College you invited me over for dinner. To say the least, I was very surprised in seeing and recognizing her, maybe as much as you, since you did not need to introduce your wife to me. It was a pleasant reunion. We lost contact after I left Illiana but I did know you moved back to Holland.
May God bless you and your family.

Mr. Jipping, I have thought of you many times throughout the years. You were one of my favorite teachers at Southwest Christian. You separated my geometry class into two cohorts because mine was slower in grasping concepts. I've always admired you for being so innovative back in 1964. I now realize how young you were when you taught me! I am so sorry for the loss of your wife of sixty-two years; may the love of your family and friends sustain you during this difficult time.
