Tribute & Message From The Family

Wayne Boeve went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, June 15, 2020 at the Meijer Heart Center in Grand Rapids. Wayne was born on July 28, 1934 to Nelson and Geneva (Bouwman) Boeve in Kalamazoo, MI. At the age of nine, his family moved back to Holland. After graduation from Holland High School, he began his life-long occupation as a carpenter. He worked 30 years for Harold Langejans Builders and 18 years for Vander Meulen Builders. On September 21, 1955 Wayne married his true love Hazel DeRoo of Zeeland. Together they raised three sons and one daughter. Wayne was a member of Graafschap Christian Reformed Church where he served as both an Elder and a Deacon, where he also sang with the Graafschap double quartet for 25 years. After his retirement, he volunteered numerous times in the South for CRC Disaster Relief. He also volunteered for Habitat for Humanity, Personal Energy Transportation of MI, Bibles for Mexico, and the CRC Conference Grounds. Wayne and Hazel loved to camp with family and friends. He also enjoyed gardening, volunteer projects such as building the wedding gazebo at the CRC Conference Grounds, playing card games, and attending his grandchildren's sporting and school events.

Wayne was a dearly loved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 64 years Hazel, children Keith and Paula Boeve, Kraig and MaryBeth Boeve, Ron and Jan Boeve, and Sheryl and James Jo, 10 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren with another on the way, sister Doris Langejans (Gordon), sister-in-law Ardella Gates (Stan), brother-in-law Herwin DeRoo (Lois), sister-in-law Barb Meeuwsen, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Dick Boeve, and grandson Chris Boeve, Hazel's parents John and Susan DeRoo, sister-in-law Gerry VanTatenhove and her husband Ken, and brother-in-law Jerry Meeuwsen.

A private graveside service to honor Wayne's faith and life will be held at East Saugatuck Cemetery. Pastor Phil Kok will officiate. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a lasting gift in Wayne's name are asked to remember the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Arrangements are by Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home and condolence messages may be left online at www.langelandsterenberg.com.
