"We were saddened to learn of the passing of Winnie. Our families over the years were very intertwined. My parents as 398 members and close friends for years and as our neighbors on John St. in the village of Saugerties, Winnie and Jack were great neighbors. My Mom sends her condolences to the family as I do. Peg Wilsey, Jack and Juanita Wilsey, Saugerties, New York"

"Winnie was a wonderful friend, mentor & so quick to lend help in any way she could. We spoke two or three times a year, always near her birthday, when she'd always say her age, and wondered if she'd make it to another year! We spoke on Christmas & she always called near my birthday. We caught up on the phone calls & I sent her pictures of my son & grandchildren when I could. She cherished them & spoke fondly & with proud of my son. When I had him, I was at Winnie's church in Saugerties & was a single mother for a long time. She took it upon herself to do his laundry, as we lived two houses apart. She would come & pick up his clothes & play with or hold him if he was awake. Then she would bring the clothes back, fresh & clean & neatly folded. One time she even brought them back in an ice storm, carefully inching her way over slippery sidewalks to get to me. I told her it could have waited, and she just said, "I am happy to see you & him, & worried he might need something!" We used to go to the Strawberry Festival in Saugerties with her & Jack, even when they moved away, and made it back for the Festival in June, they included us. My son, Tim & I send condolences to all Winnie's family & want you to know we loved her so much & she was a great part of our lives! Praying for all of you. She would be so impressed to know she did indeed make it to 98! Well done, Winnie, we will always treasure the memories of so many years friendship & all you gave of yourself to us!"

"Our deepest sympathy to the entire family of sweet Winnie! She was an integral part of our extended family for so many years. Winnie was loved and admired by everyone. She and Jack were such special loved ones and now they are re-united forever. We will miss our Christmas eves spent with them and Jack's wonderful harmonica announcing the appearance of Santa Claus at our gatherings. They will always be in our thoughts and we are so grateful for all the beautiful memories we have of Winnie. She is the wonderful example of a life well lived.....we will miss you Winnie. Forever in our hearts, Larry & Paula Strockis"

"We are so sorry for your loss. We met Jack and Winnie and volunteered with them at Evergreen. We loved working with them and also enjoyed having them in our home and we in theirs. It was always fun to have a girls only luncheon date with Winnie. She loved going to Bob Evans for their blueberry crepes! She was always so upbeat even just a few weeks ago when I called to check on her. She never complained even then. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her."
