Don R. Wiersma age 77, of Holland, completed his life on this earth and entered into the presence of his Savior on November 19, 2020.

He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Margie; her children and grandchildren, Paul and Jessica Hoekstra (Noah, Ella, Meta), Jeff and Joan Van Fossan (Karsten, Kolin), Mark and April Homkes (Anna, Katelyn, Elizabeth), Andrew and Terese Hoekstra (Olivia, Carter, Wyatt, Andrew); Gladys' children, grandchildren and great grandchildren; Julie and Troy Walker (deceased) (Tom, Troy, Jeremy, Josh, Casey) , Tracy and Ed Sheldon (Kori, Theodore "TJ"). He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys (Van Bruggen) and step-daughter, Julie and her spouses Troy and Terry.

Don was born in Zeeland and attended Zeeland High School. He proudly served his country as a Sailor in the United States Navy aboard the SS Oriskany during the Vietnam War. He was a co-owner of Parkway Electric. Throughout his life he served others. He was a Scoutmaster for over 25 years, served on the board of People Helping People in Pullman and was a member of the leadership team of Pullman Ministries. He was part of the original group to start Christ Memorial Church and was currently a member of Ridge Point Community Church.

Don spent his life investing in relationships. He was a faithful husband, an avid listener, a steadfast and loyal friend. His grandchildren will miss his perfect smores, his ever-present support at their events and the quiet way he loved each of them. Spending time in God's creation brought him much joy. He loved hunting, fishing, boating, camping and classic cars. He served and loved the community of Pullman with his time, his talents and his passion for each person he met. He was a proud veteran and loved his country.

A private family service will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 23, 2020 at Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home, 315 E. 16th ST. Holland. A public graveside service with military honors will take place at 11:30 a.m. in the New Veteran's Section in Zeeland Cemetery which is off of Peck Street. Memorial contributions may be given to People Helping People of Pullman or Pullman Ministries.
