Betty R. Miller, age 87, of Holland, MI died on October 7, 2018. Betty is preceded in death by her parents Steve and Mabel Roelofs, her brother Dr. Charles Roelofs, her sister Ruth Ranken, as well as a precious son, Roderick Miller.

Betty is survived by her three children and their spouses: Susan (Tom) DenHerder, Howard "Buzz" (Lisa) Miller and Margaret "Meg" (Greg) Willit. Betty was the most amazing Gramme to her grandchildren: Martha (Phil) Menerick, Matt (Katie) DenHerder, Felicia (David) Dykema, Kenneth "J" Mills, Nathan Willit and Andrew Willit. Betty was also blessed with three adorable great-grandchildren: Ellie, James and Benjamin. In addition to her children, Betty is survived by her very special brother Keith Roelofs.

Betty, born in Forest Grove, MI, attended Hope College and majored in English. She was a secondary school teacher at Zeeland High School. Betty was known locally for her leadership and commitment to many organizations. Betty's community and board service included Zeeland United Way, Zeeland Literary Club, Holland Junior Welfare League, Zeeland School District Board of Trustees, Holland Garden Club, Hope College Board of Trustees, Holland Historical Trust and MBYC. Betty was very proud of the role she played as a member of the founding Board of Trustees of Hospice of Holland and also served as a trained hospice volunteer.

Betty was a devoted Christian whose faith inspired others, and was, most recently, a member at Second Reformed Church in Zeeland. Prior to that she was a member at Christ Memorial Church in Holland where she found a family in her church choir. Until her death, Betty loved her time singing with her friends in the Freedom Village choir. Betty also served as the finance committee chair for the Reformed Church in America (Great Lakes Region).
Betty was a kind and special woman who was loved by many.

There will be a time of visitation on Tuesday, October 9 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Second Reformed Church in Zeeland, Michigan, 225 East Central Ave., Zeeland MI 49464. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 10 at 11:00 a.m. at Second Reformed Church in Zeeland, Michigan, with the Rev. Miriam Barnes and Rev. Eric Barnes officiating. You are welcome to join the family for a time of visitation 10:00-10:45 prior to the memorial service.

Memorial Contributions in Betty's memory can be made to Hospice of Holland or Holland Historical Trust.
